  • Obiettivi: LEARNING OUTCOMES: The purpose of Course of Economic Geography for graduates who will work in the field of economics and business management, public companies and non-profit organizations as well as in in accounting professions, is to promote theoretical and instrumental knowledge appropriate for understanding the different territorial contexts in which they will interact. The main objective for the student is to be able to apply geographical-economic reading to understand economic processes at different scales as well as the determinants of development. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: The course is one of the exams chosen by the Course in Economics and Management. The topics dealt with for general and specialist modules define the evolution, in a strongly interdisciplinary and operational / planning key, of the applied economic geography which, starting from the general understanding of the territories at the different scales of analysis, is realized in elaboration of policies, plans and programmes. The aim is to acquire the tools for interpreting the fundamental economic-territorial processes that guide the development of contemporary society and that have as their field of study and application the sustainable, cohesive and competitive development of economic, social and territorial systems. The application context of choice is the European cohesion policy and the Community sector policies with their corollary of tools to support the decision-making process. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: The student will be able to interpret the phenomena that take on territorial relevance in relation to diversity and territorial capital at different scales. Therefore, students will acquire the methodological and cognitive tools to understand the different modes of human-environment interaction in terms of territorial effects of general and sectoral policies. MAKING JUDGEMENTS: Through the knowledge gained from the study, students will be able to assess the main determinants, issues and the unfolding of stakeholders' interests in the different and complex areas of the human-environment relationship and will look at public policy-making at different scales as the context in which the application of appropriate evaluation methods can ensure transparency and involvement. Students will acquire their own judgement through an understanding of the fundamental points of reference in explaining economic-territorial processes and regional development. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: The course introduces the student to the specific language of the discipline and enables him/her to participate professionally in contexts requiring knowledge, analysis but also the development of specific policies (both institutional and entrepreneurial contexts). In this sense, the student will be able to identify and communicate, through the geo-economic reading of the topics under study, the fundamental elements of the issues dealt with LEARNING SKILLS: The language and the rationale of the discipline, but also the examination of case studies, open to the student the possibility of knowing not only the topics dealt with but also of accessing the knowledge of other territorial sciences as well as orienting oneself with knowledge in specific territorial contexts for to tackle the problems from the perspective of companies or institutions.
