  • Prerequisites: Deep knowledge of anthropology, molecular anthropology, genetics, chemistry, molecular biology and bioinformatics.
  • Objectives: LEARNING OUTCOMES: Deepen the theoretical and practical knowledge in the study of ancient remains focusing not only on biological but also on chemical-physical aspects. Reinforce the knowledge and skills in genetic evolution deepening the Next Generation Sequencing technologies (NGS). Provide the theoretical and practical basic knowledge for the analysis and interpretation of ancient biomolecules results. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Acquisition of theoretical competence to design specific experimental procedures and of operational skills for the research in the field of ancient biomolecules. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Acquisition of capabilities to deal with experimental problems in ancient biomolecules sudies with the adeguate cognitive tools. Achievement of practical skills at methodological and technologicl levels to be applied in ancient DNA and ancient protein studies. MAKING JUDGEMENTS: Development of skills in palaeogenomics and palaeoprotemics fields to independently perform scientific experiments and consciously interpret experimental data. To be able to carry out bibliographic researches and to critically select proper information, especially on web. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: To be able to organize, efficently present, also at graphical level, and transfer acquired knowledge and the more recent discovery in the field of ancient biomolecules either in written or in oral forms, possibly in English. These skills are acquired through scritical discussion. LEARNING SKILLS: Capacity to learn and independently and continuously update in the ancient biomolecules field from various sources, also in English, with particular attention to critical consulation of bibliography, database and other information on the web.
