  • Objectives: LEARNING OUTCOMES: Knowledge of the basics of papyrology (history of the discipline; history of papyrological finds; editing literary and documentary papyri). KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Knowledge of each of the case studies discussed in class (palaeographical and bibliological analysis; language and contents; dating criteria; origin, provenance, conservation; main papyrological websites and platforms). APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Developing and presenting a correct historical and/or critical assessment of literary as well as documentary papyri (where and when was a given papyrus produced? where and when was it found? what kind of information can be elicited from it? how does it relate to other sources?). MAKING JUDGEMENTS: Drawing conclusions from the analysis of a case study. Arguing for their correctness. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Developing an argument within a given number of words/span of time. LEARNING SKILLS: Knowledge of the basics of the discipline. Connecting the data concerning a given case study.
