  • Objectives: The course will lead students to learn about the ancient currency in its numerous technical, economic and historical aspects and, therefore, to the understanding of money as an archaeological and historical finding starting from the premonetal phases up to the most recent phases. The goal is to develop the skills to apply knowledge and understanding to the monetary findings, their use in cultural and educational, to their evaluation, enhancement and conservation as cultural assets, developing the autonomous judgment and skills to communicate adequately using scientific terminology in the numismatic field also using computer software. The skills to learn will be solicited also in view of research activities: the lectures will be carried out actively with discussions for the solution of problematic knots, will be flanked by the comparison with the sources and the scientific bibliography in the numismatic-archaeological field in Italian and integrated with guided tours to Medaglieri and places of numismatic and archaeological interest and some hours of laboratory, but also with the production on a specific topic by the student of a research to be proposed during the lessons with computer support.
