  • Prerequisites: Good knowledge of roman late republican and imperial history; basic knowledge of latin and greek, together with experience of greek and latin epigraphy and a good knowlege of english.
  • Objectives: LEARNING OUTCOMES: Critical knowledge of the territories and ancient landscapes of the roman provinces from the II century BC to the 5th century AD. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: The course will develop critical tools for understanding the different cultures within the territories of the Roman Empire. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Epigraphic and literary texts related to the history of the Mediterranean in the Roman period will be examined during the course, which will contribute to the development of critical skills on the part of students. MAKING JUDGEMENTS: Acquisition of critical skills and autonomy of judgment toward the issues addressed in the course; ability to synthesize and scientifically interpret archaeological data. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Development of communication skills and use of language appropriate to the characteristics of the subject matter. LEARNING SKILLS: The course will contribute to the increase of learning skills in archaeology as well as ancient history and geography.
