  • Objectives: MOD. A: AIMS: *** EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES: A basic knowledge of Byzantine history and literature. This course contributes to the acquisition of the historical, literary, and cultural-historical knowledge that is necessary to the historical and critical evaluation of manuscripts, documents, texts and artefacts from the Byzantine period. *** EXPECTED RESULTS: In line with the educational objectives of the Study Program in "Conservation and Restauration of Cultural Heritage", this training activity aims to provide the student with the following knowledge and skills: - KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: This course contributes to the acquisition of the historical, literary and cultural-historical knowledge that is necessary for a correct historical and critical evaluation of Greek texts, manuscripts, archival documents, and artifacts dating from the Byzantine period. - APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: This course contributes to the acquisition of the ability: i) to critically evaluate the historical, literary, and historical-cultural aspects of Byzantine texts, manuscripts, documents, and artifacts; ii) to promote and support literary, historical, archival and art-historical research on Byzantine manuscripts and texts. - COMMUNICATION SKILLS: This course contributes to the acquisition of the ability to express in an effective and orderly manner one's opinion about historical and cultural-historical issues of Greek texts, manuscripts, and archival documents dating from the Byzantine period, using a correct and unambiguous historical and literary terminology according to current international scientific standards. MOD. B: AIMS: *** EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES: A basic knowledge of Byzantine history and literature, and a basic knowledge of the history, pronunciation, and grammar of Greek language in its medieval phase.
