  • Objectives: The course aims to introduce the student to the aspects of material culture in the field of cinema studies by delving into different research methods used to bring to light important case studies in the history of cinema; case studies, realised through the consultation of filmic and non-filmic materials, their subsequent organisation and their use for the final result and the dissemination of the outcome of the research or audiovisual product. The aim is therefore to provide students with the tools for the knowledge of the development of a research project or production in relation to the various historical periods of cinema and television, paying particular attention to the places and contexts in charge of the preservation of filmic, non-filmic and audiovisual heritage in Italy and abroad. Particular attention will also be given to concrete examples of various types of sources available to scholars and researchers.
