  • Prerequisites: Elementary knowledge of the problems of digital humanities, theories and methodologies of literary criticism, and skills in the use of computers.
  • Objectives: The course aims at providing an introductroy theoretical and practical knowledge in the application of digital methods and tools for the representation encoding and analysis of texts (literary and not). In line with the educational objectives of the Study Program stated in the SUA-CdS (sections A.4.b.2, A.4.c), the course aims to provide students with the following knowledge and skills: - Knowledge and understanding: At the end of the course, students are expected to show sufficient skills in the techniques and issues related to the creation and the dissemination of electronic documents and the creation and management of digital text archives. - Applying knowledge and understanding: Students will be required to develop autonomy and flexibility in creating links between the contents of this course and those of the literary and linguistic courses of the degree. - Making judgements: Since the course concentrates on innovative methods and topics, students are expected to exercise their independent judgment on them within the limits imposed by their own skills. - Communication skills: Students will be able to critically examine and explain the contents learned during the course ad to apply the methods and tools presented in classes. - Learning skills: Students will be able to work autonomously and in groups, and to search for information from a variety of up-to-date, academically relevant electronic sources, including standard reference works on the course contents.
