Objectives: The primary goal is to put music into its proper historical context, emphasizing the political, economical and cultural connection between the musical work of art and its environment. The course will also use score analysis, recordings and videos. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: The main objective is to develop the ability to apply knowledge and understanding of the main moments in musical history, highlighting the need, unfortunately never recognized, to consider music as a fundamental element for understanding political, social and artistic history. MAKING JUDGMENT: Through the proposed activities the students will acquire autonomous judgment skills and ability to communicate by mastering the scientific terminology in musicology.
