  • Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of the chronological framework and historical periodisation related to the development of Italian art from the 14th to the 16th centuries.
  • Objectives: LEARNING OUTCOMES: In the framework of goals of the MA in Art History in Rome from Late Antiquity to the Present, the course of History of architecture LM A aims to provide students with a sound knowledge and interpretative tools to decipher the complexity of Renaissance architectural design, starting from the analysis of design methods and techniques, assessing the strategies implemented to respond to patrons' needs and sites' characteristics, up to the construction techniques and materials, the style and meanings of the building process. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Students are expected to learn how to to handle architectural history topics on the basis of a solid time grid and with advanced critical awareness. Knowledge and understanding will be acquired and developed through active participation in teaching activities and the individual study of appropriate bibliographies.
